Andrea Falconiero (Falconieri) was an Italian lutenist, singer and composer. This is a music video from Harmonico101 performed by Hesperion XXI titled Falconiero - "Folia" for Two Violins and Continuo.
ANDREA FALCONIERO (c. 1575-1661). "Folias (a 3) echa para mi Senora Dona Tarolilla de Carallenos".
FALCONIERI participated in various Italian courts of nobility, of Modena and Parma, in Genoa since 1639 and occupied the Spanish royal court of Naples, where he worked as a lutenist and Theorbenspieler was active. Between 1621 and 1628 he traveled Spain and France. He died during a plague in 1656.
His work consists of motets, madrigals, Villanellas with guitar tablature. The Medieval Latin for "motet" is "motectum", and the Italian mottetto was also used. If from the Latin, the name describes the movement of the different voices against one another.
